Bisi Bele Bath is one of the famous main dish of South especially in Karnataka. It is usually prepared using rice and dal along with vegetables and a special masala powder. The powder will be available in most of the Indian stores. There are many ways to prepare this special dish and this is one of the ways I follow.

Rice - 1 cup
Toor dal - 1/4 cup
Mixed vegetables - 1 cup (chopped lenghtwise)
Small onions - a few
Groundnuts - a few
Bisi bele bath powder - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Gingelly oil / Ghee
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - a few
Cashews for garnish
Method:
Wash rice and toor dal together. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and groundnuts. Fry for few minutes. Add small onions and the vegetables. Mix well. Add masala powder and salt. Fry for another 5 minutes. Lastly add the rice and dal and mix well. Add required amount of water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Garnish with cashews fried in ghee. Serve hot with raitha or boondi.
